We believe that Papua’s sago forests should remain sustainable as we pursue economic development. And we believe that the downstream processing of Papua’s sago is a vital contribution to economic growth in Papua.

Founded in 2023, Sasagu grew out of our love for Papua’s nature and its rich culture. Inspired by Papua’s natural sago forests, home to 80% of the world’s largest sago plant population, we want to introduce the uniqueness and deliciousness of all-natural and healthy sago-based products. Grown naturally and organically, we want to ensure that the sago forests that have sustained Papuan communities for tens of thousands of years remain for eternity. With responsible and sustainable harvesting practices, a one-cut, five-plant system, we ensure that Papua’s sago can be enjoyed for generations to come.
We also ensure that our partner farmers are paid more than the Fairtrade minimum price for their harvest.
